Riding for a cause
The DGR is a charitable event raising awareness and funds for the Movember Foundation's men's health programs. The subjects Movember and DGR combat are listed below. More detailed information can be found here.
Prostate Cancer is the second most commonly diagnosed cancer in men (after skin cancer). In some western countries, more men die of it than women die of breast cancer. The Movember Foundation is the largest organization supporting programs against this scourge, both educational and combative, in the world.
Know the risk factors:
Prostate cancer only affects men, as women do not have a prostate gland. Risk factors for developing the disease include:
Age - The older a man, the more likely he is to be diagnosed with prostate cancer.
Family History - A man with a father or brother who developed prostate cancer is twice as likely to develop the disease.
Ethnicity - Increased occurrence in black African and Afro-Caribbean males.
Suicide Prevention and Mental Health
Suicide is the biggest killer of men aged 20-39. 75% of suicides are male. Worldwide, over half a million men die from suicide, this is a rate of one every minute. A horrifying statistic.
There’s no shame in checking in your own mental wellbeing, and those close to around you, nor should there be. The Movember Foundation has produced some handy guides to help anyone in broaching the subject:

Together, the Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride and the Movember Foundation are breaking down these barriers that exist in men, but they need your help.
